The lost generation
I read a story once, about a lost generation
They were on a spaceship, going to a new planet
Their parents remembered Earth, their kids would reach the new home
But they were just placeholders, just supposed to reproduce and keep the ship running
As they started adulting, they suddenly realized
They had nothing to live for, they'd never leave the ship
They just had to survive and that was getting harder, you see
Because their home was cold metal lost in space, there was no changing that
With the suicide numbers getting higher and higher
The parents started to worry about their kind's future, would there be any
And few of the young ones decided they don't want to see a whole generation die
And so they started cloning trees, making gardens in unused spaces, they tried and tried
Just like we are trying
The house market is ridiculous
The politics is goddamn circus
People suffer in the darkness
Everyone seems to be faceless
The global warming can't be stopped
The youth's trying being dropped
Ridiculed and being hated
And the boomers staying blinded
Trauma from our parent's parents
It's costing us all our patience
Always healing, always hurting
Always laughing, our hearts breaking
The world war three might happen soon
TV feeds us lies on spoon
About what and about where
But all our problems are right there
Between the friends and family
Our closest being our first bully
Teachers and staff ain't respectful
Wanting you to become dull
To fit into society
To obey and not be bratty
Do as said, no questions asked
Always smiling, always masked
